Some of us remember those days @Skylarks and have a deep seated cultural and social aversion to putting the plant anywhere near the garden  :D
I remember as a teenager, one of my friends had one in their front garden, now I’m wondering if his parents were/are.... 😬

If it was late 60s or early 70s then almost certainly

Hmm so I'm from Australia so am I right in saying there is a cultural view of this plant I'm not aware of? Is it the equivalent of duck a l'orange? haha. Did everyone go crazy with it once?

The swinging 60s hit suburbia @dilby but that may be another cultural period you are unfamiliar with?  Sex, drugs and Rock 'n' Roll were supposedly the order of the day, many of us around at that time feel like we must have missed something although I did enjoy the R&R !!

@herbaceous, was late 70s to 80s. They could have been there a while 😉

...throw in Rose 'Hanky Panky' and you've got the treble up... it'll be your lucky day... maybe not this year though...

We have some lovely dwarf Pampas (Splendid Star).  They are a stunning white colour, and we are growing them in pots.  I'm always wary of the word dwarf, having found many that turned out to be giants.  They can take semi-shade.

Well, if we’re descending into toilet talk, how about Leucanthemum Superbum?
