I remember feeling vindicated when an expert chap said exactly that @Dovefromabove - children who learned how to amuse themselves were much more adaptable in lots of ways. I knew families who just seemed to spend their entire time taking their kids to one activity after another - every day. Their kids could never entertain themselves at all, and couldn't sit and read or draw or just be comfortable in their own skins for more than five minutes.
Could 'of' instead of could 'have' drives me nuts....

Bee central here too. I even had to rescue one who'd come in the kitchen. Sat quite happily on my finger cleaning it's legs.
That should be on the RTBC thread really  :)

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I remember my teachers banging on about double negatives:  "Sir, I ain't got no pencil."  "Oh, so you've got a pencil, that's good."   Then later I began to learn other languages and discovered that in some of them, a double negative is quite correct!

Many of my students were doing maths as well so the minus x  minus = a plus made sense to them but never to me😕. I knew it was a  thing you had to believe, but I never understood why. So long as it helped them to get the double negative....

What intrigues me is people not taking note when they see a word spelled differently from the way they spell it. Seperate or separate? One must be wrong and if I was in the seperate camp I would want to know which is correct.

For a gardening forum I might have expected there to be fewer incorrect spellings of plant names.
