I grew up at the bottom of Loch Lomond (!) so know the road only too well. Too many stories of crashes for delicate ears, it is a deadly road. It also used to be narrower but so were vehicles then. Used to be a hoot driving it in Winter though when the tourists were thin on the ground. I remember one hitching trip where we got a lift in a rally car (Lotus Cortina Mk1) which took us from Fort William all the way back to Balloch. Trouble was it still had studded tyres on from a snow and ice rally and the roads were dry. Very entertaining/scary especially as I was in the back hanging on to the roll cage, only front seats.
Did you keep your dinner down @steephill ? It's when the coaches get stuck on the bends too. I got skelped in the rear one day from someone who'd been rammed by a clown heaving round a blind bend, oblivious to the fact that there could be anything there. We were all stationary, as there was a coach in each direction at the double bend, and we had to wait for them to manoeuvre. The guy who hit me was so apologetic, and I said it was fine - wasn't his fault [no damage to my car apart from a scratch or two] but the guy who caused it - never even asked if I was ok, and barely bothered about the chap he hit. Totally ignorant. Felt really sorry for them too as they were on their way to the ferry at Oban. The widening of the road near Pulpit rock has made a big difference though. No traffic light now

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I remember driving along that road with nothing but petrol fumes in the tank and then we came to a hotel with an old fashioned petrol pump. What a relief! But that was many years ago. I doubt there's many of them about now..
Used to cycle up it too - overnight stays in the old YH at Ardgarten, climb the Cobbler, Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime then cycle home again. Another favourite was up Glen Fruin then over to Loch Long for some fishing returning with fish dangling from the handlebars. Of course we had to make our own entertainment in those days, kids today etc. etc.
@steephill - have you seen what they charge now for parking at Succoth? 9 quid! I'm surprised people haven't caught on that they could park at Ardgarten and walk back to do those three. I think they just block residents' road in Succoth instead. Haven't been in Fruin since I did one of the wee hills there a few years ago.

Yes @Fairygirl ... the Real Food Café ... very good ... it was recommended to me by a restaurant critic I met when we were both having physio on our knees 😝
