    Is it along a fence @MartineB?
    If so - attach some wires on vine eyes at several heights, and you can train it back and forth along it. I did that in a previous garden and it gives you good coverage. They don't need pruning really, unless they're getting too out of control, so you'll have a good framework there all year round, and a good expanse of flowers  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thank you Fairygirl. Yes it is along a fence but very near a pyracantha. I will have to grow it to the other side over a David Austin Tess of the d'Urbervilles rose
