Hi @Fairygirl, I've been wondering for a while how the spam function works on this forum, could you kindly explain please if you get a chance?  I can see that the "flag" at the bottom of each note offers a "Spam" or "Report" option - what's the difference between the two and what happens when you click on each of these?

I've gathered from some of the responses above that it takes a number of clicks from different posters to remove a suspect spam/spammer, but how many clicks does it take and when does the post disappear?  (They seem to have been rejuvenated by the Christmas break!)

    Thanks in advance!

No probs @Plantminded -   If you click on Spam, your click will be added to the number of flags, and once there's five flags, it automatically disappears. You'll see a note at the bottom of the page saying the post has been removed for moderation if you're the fifth flagger.
However, sometimes there's a glitch, and there could be a dozen or more flags and the post is still there. You can then click on the Report option, and fill in a little message in the window that appears for the mods, which hopefully gets their attention, and gets the necessary response. :)

The report function is also useful if you feel someone is causing trouble, or being offensive etc. That's quite a broad spectrum...  ;)

    Hope that helps  :)

That's great @Fairygirl, thank you!  Now fully trained up as an anti-spammer!

It helps me. Quite a complicated system isn't it?

I suppose many of us are just used to it now @Uff, but it works reasonably well - most of the time  ;)

Perhaps when we need to flag, we should rename things a la Rowan and Martin's Laugh In [for anyone old enough to remember that] and call it the 'Flying Fickle Finger of Fate'   :D
