Corona & Gardening Supplies :(

In times like this when everything is closed, where to get the usual gardening supplies?

I need to top dress my lawn but cant get hold of topsoil, Sharp sand and Peat moss. The only place i could find was Wickes but they are only doing home deliveries for larger quantities.

Also all the super markets haven’t got much left in terms of seeds and bulbs etc. It doesnt seem likely that we’ll be getting much supplies of bedding plants either (petunias, lobelias, geraniums etc).

Any other ideas, where to source the stuff?

    Many online seed/plant suppliers appear to be operating normally, so you could try a few of those.  I forgot parsnip and a couple of other veg seeds in my usual 'christmas' seed order so had to order some online on March 18th.  They arrived within a week, as did a box of plug plants I ordered while I was on their website.
    Getting sand and other heavy stuff is another matter and I wouldn't personally want to burdon carriers with heavy, non-vital goods at this time.  If you have room, perhaps order just enough from wickes to get a home delivery and store some for next year?  I can't imagine Wickes lorries are being used to deliver vital food or medical equipment/supplies, so my conscience would be clear if I ordered a pallet of bagged manure from them, for example.

    Are there no garden centres in the area offering deliveries? 2 within 15 mins of me are and have taken photos of a lot of stock to list on facebook.

    They should have the top soil and sharp sand, but l don't know about peat moss ? Also bulbs and seeds.

    If you look at the individual items on B&Q website, none of them are available to order (neither delivery nor Click & Collect).

    I see Wickes have an estimated hour long queue just to view the bloody website at the minute!

    We have an independent ‘Ironmonger’ in Norwich city centre ... they’ve started to offer free local delivery for orders over £15 ... maybe you have something similar in your area?

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I suppose you have to look out for the specialists when the general stores let us down.

    Around our way a good few of the smaller garden centres have turned to delivery service only just checked a couple most composts in stock and£5 delivery charge .
