So how much toilet paper would you normally get through?

    I want a bio bidet.

Can you imagine the shock though if the hot water failed?  A cold blast up the posterior could spoil your day. :D

There is recyclable toilet paper. They were talking about it on the PM programme on Radio 4 yesterday

Or wake you up @KT53 :D
Maybe we should all install composting toilets in our gardens. Hole in the ground, bit of wood over it, handful of greenery - Bob's yer auntie.

It would also act as a self isolating mechanism, as the neighbours wouldn't come near you.

You're right posh @Fire. Kenny's Cushelle? We buy the stuff from Home Bargains. It's better than most of the expensive stuff, and much cheaper. Even though I get a discount in the s'market, it's also cheaper than their own brand stuff.

Cushelle double roll is a bit of a new discovery. It lasts so blooming long and it is good quality so you end up having to use much less of it. I tried the eco versions - with Who Gives a Crap . It's a lovely idea, a toilet paper company that donates part of profits to charity - it's recycled or bamboo paper. But the quality is so poor that you end up using so much that it's not really that eco. So, I've gone back to Cushelle. It's just me in the house, so I don't through that much.

    I only ever buy cushelle.
There was someone on FB had a load of paperbacks to give away, I suggested she tore the pages out and hung them on a meat hook on the lavvy door, she said she was going to have a bonfire, that’s just wasteful.

These are what we use for the kids. Highly recommended. One wipe will do the job of about 5 standard wet wipes. When out and about there's 3 bags that come with the kit, one for pre-moistened wipes, one for dry and the used ones go in a washable nappy bag with the nappies. We love them but still can't get over the stigma enough to use them as adults  :#

For loo roll though I can recommend Ecoleaf recycled paper. It's as good as any premium paper, tough enough to be wetted to use as a wet wipe and comes in compostable packaging.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I think some people will have to get over the stigma @wild edges;)
My sister has some of the terry nappies I had for the girls. Maybe I should get them back. I'm heading to that age where I might need them for myself....

The problem with the rise in items made from bamboo, and therefore technically recyclable, is that large areas are now being 'converted' for growing it, at the expense of other habitats, which is now causing another set of problems. Swings and roundabouts.

I hope the demand slows as the selfish bastard have over stocked.

Every time I've looked in the shops after work they've been empty which will be absolutely no use for when I do need more.

I know Punk doc, it's quite eye-watering isn't it.  I really must jettison Andrex and try Cushelle!

@Lyn, your comment took me straight back to my grandmother's house - an outside loo, to which my father had to take me to dispose of the spiders first, complete with torn up bits of newspaper hung on a hook - goodness, it was so cold in the winter. Can you imagine anybody in the UK putting up with that today?
