LB it’s good your brother is getting his heating sorted this afternoon and can keep warm. Lily it’s good you’ve temporarily secured the roof. Hazel bless the little ones during this period. Chive the online course work will keep you prepared. Debs I hope your sister is able to enjoy her new role. Ante several countries are discussing when they think they will reach their peak.
Afternoon all. We went for a nice little run out this morning. Went to a local farm shop which (ahem!) also happens to have a plant bit attached to it.... No queue on a Monday morning - expect it was different at the weekend - it's a very popular place. They had eggs (hurrah!) and I was able to get some lovely fresh veg & fruit, nice meat, milk and (somehow!) a cherry pie leapt into my basket. If I can find some plain yoghurt that's my shopping done until at least next weekend.
Most importantly, I was able to buy 2 bags of multi purpose compost - something I forgot to get before the lockdown. Now I can get on with sowing peas, tomatoes, chard, coriander, salad leaves plus whatever else I fancy trying from last years left over seeds.
Came back via the petrol station to top up with fuel and they had block salt for the water softener and pacs of part bakes (which I haven't seen in the supermarket for the last month). All in all a very successful expedition.
LB - glad your brother was able to get an engineer out. Hope he gets things going again.
Might be a bit late for dingbats (we usually eat about 7pm) - but I'll join you later.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Hello Chive it’s been quite cool but the sun is out now. LB I hope you managed to collect your groceries from click and collect and the journey went well. Dominic Raab is fielding questions at 5ish on the bbc if you’d like updating. I had a thumping head until about 2pm but has improved
LB , I hope your brothers boiler was sorted and that you got your food order . I had a quick potter in the garden . Didn’t stay out long it was very cold .
Afties all. A successful trip to the SM. They had everything I asked for but just had to make one substitution - swapped my whole wheat fusilli pasta for whole wheat spaghetti. I can definitely live with that. They had coned off the car park so that it was one entrance and a separate exit. It made sense. I was only out of the house for 45 minutes. Driving down was surreal. Small numbers of cars/vehicles and people out and about. It sort of felt 'sad'. That is the best way I have to describe it. A little like driving through a ghost town.
Good news is, brother's boiler man arrived, diagnosed an air lock in the boiler itself and got it sorted in 30 minutes. He only wanted £20 but brother gave him £30 thinking that even that was a bargain price. I agree.
T'Bird, I realised after I put that time of 19:00 that it would clash with my usual Monday evening brain exercises so I hope you see this message as I'm going to start them now.
