I've tried that trick here.  Doesn't work.

Looking promising for rain tomorrow. After the winter we've just had I didn't think I'd be wishing for rain so soon. :|
I sieved the top layers of compost in the carrot tubs today ready to sow seed and found a rogue group of vine weevil grubs. There's been nothing growing in there except some weed seedlings so any theory about starving them to death is pretty much proven wrong. I had four borage seedling in there I wanted to save but a toddler stood on the top and the weevils ate the roots. I think this may set the theme for my gardening year :|

Finally managed to get a delivery from the local nursery organised and it should be here today or tomorrow. The ÂŁ12 delivery charge stings a bit but at least it contributes to keeping them running.

I’ve got loads to plant out, can’t even get a trowel in the ground, can’t water with hose here.  Longing for rain, they’d better be right with this forecast.

The rainy system moving up thru France got to Brest at 3pm your time @Lyn.   I expect you'll get some this evening some time.  Fingers crossed for you.
