    I sympathise but can't emphasise as I haven't a Scooby what you're talking about.
However, I sincerely hope that you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

I was horrified to read today that in the land of the free, your water can be cut off for non payment of the bill.  It seems a little short sighted to me

In some parts of the land of the free it's illegal to collect the rainwater that lands on your own property. You can have an assault rifle though so that makes everything ok.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Why is it illegal to collect rainwater?

To be fair I think they've relaxed the rules a bit now but it was one of those historic laws that meant the state owned the rain water not the property owners. Now you can get a permit or you're allowed to store a certain amount I think.

Yeh - but it's ok. If you inject yourself with Dettol [other disinfectants are available] it'll cure you of the virus.
Big Donny says so - so it must be true, although he's back tracked on it now.

I wonder how many stores will see an increase in those products this weekend....

I was shocked to see that too.  In the UK they cannot cut off water to a private dwelling.

They did here!   We finalised the purchase in July but couldn't get thru to the water company that week to set up an account as they wanted formalities we couldn't yet provide.  Came back in August for a week of measuring and decorating and they'd cut off the supply at the mains.

Had to send OH out to buy huge bottles of mineral water for a wash and coffee while we waited for them to turn on the tap.  They did turn up within 2 hours tho and no probs since.

In Belgium we had one very unpleasant, oversized and malodorous woman come to read our metre and she informed in very cross terms that our annual consumption for 3 was more than for an average family of 6.  I replied that we all had at least one shower a day and we paid our bills on time so what did it matter to her?

I know we don't live in a heaving metropolis  ( population about 10,000) and I know there's not much traffic about, but is there really any need for two folk to ride their horses along the main road through town? I mean REALLY??????
