My brother-in-law works for Royal Mail.  Despite the coronavirus RM have failed to provide them with gloves, still require them to stand side by side to sort the mail, and insist on calling all staff together every day into a crowded meeting area.  They have also asked people to bring hand sanitiser in from home!
Last week I received a package by Royal Mail which was too big to go through the letterbox (plants? how did you guess?) so postie rang the doorbell.  When I answered the door, the package was on the floor; he apologised and explained they'd been instructed not to pass anything hand-to-hand.

I'm hoping my new tumble dryer gets delivered tomorrow as scheduled. Should be okay as it stands in the porch by the back door, so no need for them to get near us.

Parmesan levels have turned out to be lower than I thought and we don't have any onions. I'm kicking myself for not planting any onions last year or sorting out any for this year. Normally we'd still have loads hung up in the garage. :(  Still we have a ton of potatoes stored up and all the herbs are growing well so there's always something to eat. I feel sorry for anyone facing 3 weeks stuck in a small flat with only a basic kitchen.

That's another thing which drives my postie b-i-l mad, especially at this time.  They have a lot of staff off but still the junk must get through.  Previous comment about not being allowed to hand parcels over is correct.  If you have somewhere a package can be left put a note on your door.  We have a porch so I've told our postie just to put stuff there.  New postie - the old one always found a way to leave stuff for us, even using an open window as a post box on occasion.  He did apologise the one time his aim was off and he knocked something off the window ledge.

Hilarys blinds sale, a garden centre so far away I'd never go there anyway and someone offering better broadband (how do they know it'll be better than I've got ? )
I could live without all 3 and I'm sure my Postie could too.

I think posties have been a bit left out of the equation. They're also providing a very valuable service just now.
With you on the junk mail @Hostafan1. I keep meaning to go to the council for one of the signs for the door, but I dare say, at the moment, it's not a good idea.

I'm not surprised that people flocked to the coast and open spaces last weekend, we're all starved of sunshine and fresh air. Stupid in the circumstances but understandable.

I agree on both comments Lizzie27, but I'm sure that had an impact on the timing of the next stage of the restrictions.  In the long term it might actually have been a blessing in disguise.  Lock down now and hopefully slow the bugger down.
