Cuttings ID please

The variety is something to do with a desert. middle plant in pic

I remember taking cuttings from a red variegated  berberis, but this can't be it
Might it be a salvia?
I've learnt my lesson. I even label stuff in the freezer now!

    The other ones that I need to ID are in the second picture. Ive had another look at them and the underside of the leaves is rough. Tiny prickles rather than hairs.

    Escallonia leaves have a very distinctive smell (if you rub them hard). A kind of slightly nauseating soapy fragrance. :(

    I rather like the smell. I find is vaguely like fresh Pineapple.

    It's definitely escallonia in the first picture, but what are the plants in the second one? Are tgey escallonia too?
