Your Empereur Charles IV seems to be holding up well with the rain @edhelka
@Marlorena I haven't been here very long but truly do appreciate all the help, advice, photos and all the knowledge that you freely share. I do understand your need to back off and agree that some people can be very ungrateful when you spend the time trying to help them. I do hope that you will still pop in and maybe lurk a little to watch over us all.
No rain yet but think it will be hitting us tomorrow. Got a few photos before they are destroyed. Also have buds getting ready to open on Chandos Beauty, A Whiter Shade of Pale and Lucky.
R. Favori has produced a lovely cluster.
Charles Austin.....I think I judged too harshly and too quickly. I need to learn to step back and be more patient before making an opinion.
@Omori, nope, I've used Vitax, seawead plus sequestered iron, so at least in theory the same thing but maybe not. btw, I never have attempted to smell Astrantia.
Edited to add @Marlorena, for me you are a true rose guru and inspiration. I'm not active member of the forum, usually to shy to ask questions, but when I use 'search' re roses issues, your answers are right solution in 9 out of 10 times. Thank you!
@Nollie, somehow I'm sure you will have more blooms next year than my Soul. In my experience the roses which blooms more the first year a lot, usually spend more time in growing at the price of the bloom. BTW, do flowers on your Soul take the heat and sunshine well?
Hello. I have a question related to a rose I’ve bought earlier in the year. The label says it’s Alpine Sunset, but the flowers don’t match the photo on the label or the ones I’ve found online. Could anyone venture an ID? I only have this two photos. Thank you.
@pitter-patter ..pretty rose.. it looks strikingly like 'Silver Jubilee'.. where did you get it?
..just to say thanks again for kind comments, I appreciate that very much from various members, I don't like to keep tagging you all, so you know who you are.. and I learn from all of you too, you inspire me as much.. I shall still be looking at all the pictures, just not commenting so much.. I might need some prompting to get a few more roses this winter though, so I look forward to reading your selections... plenty I hope..
..some fabulous roses here tonight... xx
@Omori Oh I meant to add, I love Gaura... I had Whirling Butterflies, but prefer one called Cherry Brandy, it's shorter and the foliage is maroon coloured.. pink flowers... others I've had are the Passionate series.. they didn't survive long unfortunately.. Wendy Cussons looks nice too..
@poppyfield64@peteS Thank you. Yes, it is very good in rainy weather. Some young branches can bend and nod when full of water but that's expected and probably will get better with age. I am happy with how that large cluster holds up. Nice to have a deeply cupped rose that doesn't ball.
