@cats_and_dogs I love your rose and clematis combo, very pretty.
@Pianoplayer Welcome! More rose lovers, more photos, more 1st hand experience, we all enjoy that.
Don't forget that even though many of us try to post both good and bad, the bias is always towards good. Some of my roses are the same size as yours. They sometimes grow in spurts - grow a bit, then flower, then grow more. Some grow and flower more continually. If the rose looks healthy and has buds, it's all fine.
@Katsa I love your Boule de Niege and I like your list, I would love some of them too.
@Tack You have some very nice roses, I am looking forward to seeing them. I am curious to see how Sandringham does for you. Give it a good position (sun), it needs it.
Kiss me Kate. I want her directly from Kordes and I plan to buy one or two more to make the postage worth it. Something from the Parfuma collection, I like Fraulein Maria and Freifrau Caroline. I also like the Siluetta collection of small ramblers, mainly Crimson Siluetta.
I want another moss and/or some damask or portland. I could combine it and get Quatre Saisons Blanc Mousseaux and I probably will although I am tempted by other roses too.
Some DAs are considered - Desdemona, Royal Jubilee, Kew Gardens.
I want another gallica, Belle sans Flatterie is on the top of the list. Or maybe Camaieux.
I absolutely want Guirlande d'Amour as a standard.
Some yellow or apricot Pemberton's hybrid musk. Daybreak or Thisbe probably.
Some teas and chinas also considered - Perle d'Or, Ducher and Mrs. B.R. Cant.
This was a rose bush that grew under my mums bungalow kitchen window. After she passed away i dug it up and planted it into my rose boarder, it didn't look great as i dug it up in the growing season but now its doing great., very happy to see it doing well. Don't know what rose it is, it has no thorns or scent but lovely colour.
For @Nollie and anyone intersted in 'Empereur Charles IV.' colour.
I understand it better now, it not only fades to the cooler lighter pink, it also has light reverse which is more visible when the blooms are more cupped/less open.
This is the oldest bloom, the one that opened 9 days ago. It's not fragrant anymore, only the freshly open blooms have fragrance and only in nice weather but that's the only thing I can complain about.
Together with 'Silas Marner', they look good together, don't they?
@edhelka You know what I’m just so deeply attracted to your pictures of Empereur Charles IV.. it catches my attention every single time you post a picture of it. It may well end up being one of my first non Austins! The colour is just so gorgeous.. it’s like Munstead Wood on a hot day.. but more vibrant.
It was very windy again in Liverpool last week - winds of up to 28mph..
My Queen of Sweden has finally woken up.. and the red lupin flower has also emerged.. rather striking colour I must say.
Lady Emma Hamilton is taking its time.. not even a full bloom yet despite occupying the sunniest spot on my balcony - getting at least 10 hours of direct sunlight each day! That said the fragrance is just incredible - even at this half bloom stage. I am sure it will be worth the wait..
And finally Roald Dhal.. very floriferous with a sweet mellow scent. Riddled with black spots very early in the season which saw me almost completely defoliating it.. I held back last minute and kept my OCD in check.. despite that the blooms are still coming along quite nicely.
I have learned my lesson from the previous storm and took some cuttings of the roses this time before the wind arrived..
I think Roald Dhal and Munstead Wood make a lovely couple (and they have a little blush baby in the middle) 🤪
I don’t have a list...Im not allowed one, there’s no more space and I’ve already blown all of my garden money for this year 🤣
But I do like the look of Charles IV and ermmm several others posted on here.
@Marlorena - I know you grow Bathsheba, have you ever had a bloom open that has been dominated more by the pink petals than the yellow/apricot so it’s ended up looking pink?
Saw someone post a rose that’s supposed to be Bathsheba but looks really pink.
@Voyagerxp Your mother’s rose looks very healthy and happy there in your beautiful garden.
@edhelka That colour is sumptuous, and looking great 9 days on. Your plan to start growing roses from seed is interesting, I think I may try as well, sounds rather fun to see what comes up. If anything, in my case 😝
Beautiful @celcius_kkw Seems you have less droopy stems than me, for example my Desdemona is looking a lot floppier than yours.
