Nollie's 'Soul', lovely though it is, emphasises how many look a like DA roses there are out there today, which can make trying to i.d. them impossibly difficult.. hard enough with DA's alone...

..echoing others,... lovely garden of which I'm sure many of us would like to see some more.. roses or not... we love cottage gardens, especially chaotic ones.. so you are welcome to exhibit glam or not so glam shots of your garden for us to drool over..
..same goes for everyone else too of course, as we all know by now..

@Marlorena, soon as I saw Soul open I thought ‘oh, how very David Austin’, which I wasn't expecting. Will see how it goes, but so far the vigorous healthy growth, strong necks and thick shiny leaves (seem to withstand my climate better) are making me think Tantau roses would be a good option for me as DA substitutes!

Does DA (the company) grow all of the roses (their Non-DA roses) that they sell themselves in their own fields - or do they take stock from third party wholesale growers (for instance) and then pass them on with their own branding?

Came up in conversation and I wasn’t sure!

I've never heard of them doing that, as far as I know they grow all their roses onsite and I would be shocked if it was otherwise... I once had to spend a whole year emailing their team about a rose they sent me twice which I knew was the wrong rose... they eventually admitted the mistake and removed it from their inventory and told me there was a mistake in their growing fields with labelling..

Peter Beales on the other hand, contract out their container roses to Wharton Roses, who are not far away from them... if you order a container rose it will come from Whartons … they supply all the garden centre trade with container roses that have the Peter Beales label on them, and other vendors too, including several from France as well...
I suspect it's why, when you look to order a rose from Beales, it says in small print beneath the description ''sold on behalf of Peter Beales Roses''..   I'm not sure about the bare roots though..

...I hope you get more Tantau roses, so then we can all enjoy them too..  there are several I have my eyes on....  having strong necks is a feature of Tantau I think, the ones I have all seem to behave that way..
