Burgundy Ice, on a spindly stem. I had to tie an allium leaf around its neck for the photo, it's now face down again.
Night Owl, I like this rose, half closed again now in the rain. The bush has a nice shape and is not unattractive on its own. I do have a lot of similar flower shapes though and am trying to branch out. Both flowers are less pink in real life, more a burgundy velour.
Princess Alexandra of Kent - my first flower opening but it’s got two others not far behind. Planted early Autumn last year, it was the one I bought that was a “Corinne’s Choice” rose for £14.99.
Isn’t it marvellous when you have been waiting for a rose to open for ages and suddenly, there it is? Finally, I have a Soul 😊
A bit battered, but it opened in the cold and wet. So far, I’m liking the early vigour, health and now bloom of this rose. There is a pleasant old rose/fruity fragrance and I am hoping it will get a bit stronger when the sun comes out:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Victoria Sponge, It’s disappointing your Burgundy Ice is so floppy in it’s second year. I suspect that weak necks and spindly canes are just a characteristic, someone on HMF described the growth habit as a train wreck! Shame, as the blooms are so gorgeous, especially when fully open, showing those pink stamens. This is mine at the moment, not helped by the fact the leaves are a leaf-cutter bee magnet:
I did wonder if it would be better as a standard, here’s a photo from an HMF member in Bulgaria. It does look better, but worryingly, she also says it’s not heat tolerant there in July/August which doesn’t auger well for me!

An impulse buy this one. I've always longed for a rambler with tiny deep red flowers (childhood memories and all). It was cheap, but unfortunately came with no info regarding height or habit, so I've potted it up into a larger pot, added a few support canes, and I'll just have to wait and see how much growth it feels like putting on.
You have some nice plants there @peteS, the fern looks good and I like the plain leaf hosta. I like the wall too come to that. Hope your red rambler does well.
Another good rose/clem combo @B3, I see you have an eye for that!
That standard B Ice looks good @nollie. Mine has one sturdyish cane and I can kind of imagine it growing like a peony, arching but airy, leaves few and far between. That's a figment of my imagination though and perhaps beyond its capacity. I'm (strongly) considering planting another rose behind and to the side and then if I'm still underwhelmed next year I'll take it out and plonk a non-rose in the hole.
@Victoria Sponge my mother has a Burgundy ice that I’m sure must be at least 10 years old and it is lovely but it does have a “relaxed” feel to it. It’s about 5/6ft high and easily 5ft wide. It’s a lovely plant but the only thing we’ve noticed about it is that the flowers don’t age very well.

Golden showers
Deep secret. Doing better in full sun.
Got sickly in partial shade last year.
