@Katsa Nothing to worry about, it’s very straightforward. I cut mine down to about a foot tall in late February. You could cut more or less depending on how tall you want it to be. All the roses you bought look lovely but Pure Poetry especially 😍

@Omori, the shop sent me proper job instead of pure poetry. So I've added miss England and Jacques Cartier to the order. What else was I supposed to do? I needed to make delivery worth while 😜😜

Do you think it will be OK to grow hardy geraniums in the same pot as my recently planted desdemona.

@katsa good thinking, can never have too many roses 😜

@peteS Maybe a small, less rampant one but it would still compete for water and nutrients. I would personally just go for slate chippings but maybe some annuals might be better if you’re wanting added interest?

@Omori...I think you're right, it would be more sensible to use annuals. Can I ask, how often should I water a large glazed terracotta pot with a desdemona in, in hot sunny weather, and also in weather us in't north are more accustomed to, cloudy, wet and cold.

@peteS, you could grow your geranium in a separate pot and place it next to the rose. I grow lavenders and other plants in pots and place them round my roses that are in pots, you can create an interesting display and change the display as you like.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

Please tell me I’m not seeing things that aren’t there!

I’m trying to convince someone on Facebook that the rose they’ve just bought labelled Munstead Wood - isn’t Munstead Wood. Below is their photo cropped in on the left and one I just took on the right.
