I've got a gritty throat. I hope it's a cold or I might have got it from yelling at my husband yesterday. He started it!

Good news is that my son will expect his letter from the government soon so he should get a bit more money, I feel a bit better about that now.

That's good, Lyn, bit of a relief.

New words already.  Found this on a Belgian group page on FB.

Meanwhile in France they have upped the initial fine for a first offense against the lockdown rules to over 100€ which goes up if not paid immediately and goes up exponentially for repeat offenses.  Same in Belgium.

If people are sensible and confine themselves to barracks except for essential shopping and work we will get thru this all the more quickly.

    Stay safe everyone.

I used my NHS golden hour to shop for my MIL this morning. It wasn’t ideal as they did still mix the ‘vulnerable’ group today (Tesco). I didn’t notice that many ‘vulnerable’ people however I met somebody I knew in every aisle! It started fine but quickly became very busy and long queues so not ideal. Maybe they will have to only let so many in per hour. Tesco gave some of us a bunch of flowers as a thank you. A lovely gesture (even though it’s probably Mother’s Day glut). I did have a worry taking the stuff to MIL - I wiped the items and the bag handles and told her to do the same plus wash hands. I left the shopping outside and just spoke from the driveway. I can’t make it much safer than that but still a worry.

Looking out of my window I've never seen so many people out walking or running. Dogs must be loving it because I'm seeing dogs walked that likely never see beyond their back garden. Not exactly social distancing as many pass on the pavement.

To be fair, I did think that if I put mum and us in our car and went for a drive to somewhere quiet, and took our own sandwiches and flasks, we could have a bit of fresh  air, even if only looking at the beach from the car park. Then t'other half said, "What about toilets" He can go in the bushes,  I could at a push, mum definitely couldn't.  That's out then.

MP’s are urging people not to flee to country areas,  in  Cornwall there are only 12 ICU beds in the whole county,  4 people have just died, a lot are affected, there’s no point in coming down here to escape it.

It's happened here @Lyn.  In the short period between the announcement and the implementation of the lockdown Parisians with second homes have fled to the Vendée and elsewhere no doubt and taken the virus with them so cases are up here - fewer care facilities and fewer ITC beds than they'd have back home and the beaches and forests are closed and we can't go out without a paper and never in pairs or groups.

Some people still being silly about social distancing but I haven't seen any walkers or cyclists since Wednesday pm so round here at least.
