People have related for decades that ME causes changes in brain function and were often told "it is all in your head".

It was also called Yuppie Flu and sometimes a 'figment of your imagination'. I contracted ME in March 1988 and it took the best part of 9 months before I understood it and came to accept that there was nothing that I could do to make it better. I had barely had a day's illness in my life apart from childhood illness when this hit me like sledge hammer.

If Long Covid is anything like ME then I feel immense sympathy for anyone who develops it.

Med thinking had changed a lot in the last few years. In some quarters. My cousin, a surgeon, laughed in my face and said it doesn't exist. But she's not really the brightest bunny in the box.

Do you still have elements of it now @Uff ?

When I was diagnosed by my GP he mentioned that a friend of his had it and would I speak to her because she had difficulty coming to terms with it especially as her husband, a surgeon, wouldn't recognise it as a genuine illness. Of course I said that I would and did.

Sometimes, when I think about it, I wonder if I still have some elements Fire. Aching muscles especially my legs is the main one.

I'm sorry for all that, @Uff - it's very hard to spend years not being believed. I think lots of people with Long Covid have that now.

Folks, you remember I posted last week, about a friend who doesn't drive, booked her jab 18 miles away,on the day of the train strike. You all told me to turn a deaf ear,I did, she said her hubby is now poo pooing Covid, not having any more jabs. I texted asked how she got on...got garbled text back, cancelled 119, asked if they cancelled.... she said "yes", then she said SHE cancelled! Speaking face to face,it's blatantly obvious to me,she didn't bother to cancel!!! she's now complaining about booking "locally", inconvenience,BUT she is a carer in a Nursing home, there has to be a way through the system for her. Her hubby professes to be an expert on everything!!

I’m sorry @Nanny Beach … it may seem harsh but she’s a woman of working age so presumably younger than I am.

I’d tell her to grow up and stand on her own two feet and stop depending on other people to run around after her.

If she’s been daft enough to pick an idiot for a husband then she’d better look after herself.

Sorry, but you have enough to do looking after your own family without looking after those who could and should look after themselves 😣

Dove, you don't have to apologize to me.... we're old friends. I agree, she is 53, I didn't learn to drive till I was 30. We lived in a village (in a caravan) hourly bus, none on Sunday. I had a bicycle,or walked, ex-husband did learn to drive, eventually. I never expected or asked for lifts,I'm sure you will know that's NOT me! I asked her to do me a Teeny favour yesterday, she refused! Grandaughter left her coat here Tuesday,it's been raining and chilly in the mornings, when she walks to school. We were in town,a few roads from my daughter's house,it's a Victorian one way street, parking on their side... just room for one car to pass. I parked asked her if she could kindly put coat on the step and ring the doorbell,as I was double parked, and something was bound to come along, she said "no,you do it", It was on her side of the road. So I got out,ran round, yes, then apologies to the car behind me.! I cancelled going out for a drink with her (no, I don't drive,we walk to the "local")   She thinks her other half is the font of all knowledge, you can I'm sure imagine the actual fact! Mind you,in knowing her for 11 years, definitely a good idea that she doesn't drive or ride a bicycle!!

Afraid she sounds bone idle to me @Nanny Beach … I pity her work colleagues and the folk she’s supposed to care for. 😖

Oh yes they do @Nanny Beach …… @WonkyWomble and her brother are both conscientious, hard working folk who understand the true meaning of friendship …  … and that it works both ways … friends support each other … anything else is being a user. Even staff get paid!!!
