I was not trying to say that this virus is nothing to worry about, sadly some people” will lose family members. I was just trying to reduce the panic and fear a little bit. For the majority the virus will be no more than unpleasant if the present statistics are to be believed. . I work in a pharmacy and people are very frightened and sometimes making unreasonable demands which take time and attention away from those who genuinely need it. That is because they are being terrified by the media. I expect to get the virus. My fiancé is a type 1 diabetic and of course it may be worse for him but we are more worried about the economic situation to be honest. Maybe if more money had been spent on the NHS in the past this virus would be less of a threat. If people are sensible and calm this will be easier for everyone.
Go out and buy anything you need NOW. We were told late last night that all shops other than food shops/chemists are shutting from 10am this morning, so if you need a lightbulb for your car (as I do) get it now while you can, same with gardening supplies. Don't wait because you might not be able to get it next week.
Got the email from Sainsbury's. I'm quite impressed with the measures they are putting in place. Extending the click and collect should solve a lot of the delivery slot problems people have been experiencing.
However we’ve placed an order with Morrisons for delivery on Friday ... we couldn’t get a slot for a couple of weeks with Sainsbugs and prefer to avoid ‘sco if possible.

Dove, it’s Skandi that is encouraging people in the UK to panic buy.
I don’t believe Skandi was suggesting to panic but rather, it’s likely shops will close so if you currently need items like a light bulb/gardening supplies/what have you, but are perhaps putting off buying it til later, better to do so now while shops are still open. That’s a far cry from suggesting bulk buying 80 rolls of toilet tissue, or 52 cans of beans.
People round about where I live can't bulk ere's nowt left on the shelves.Makes me wonder what some of the nut cases have instead of brains. The mind boggles.
Further to the online deliveries saga and lack of slots ...... Had an email from Sainsbury’s this morning saying that 1) every Thursday morning they will open for elderly/vulnerable only for an hour (think Iceland led the way on that one) 2) Over 70s and disabled will get priority slots for online deliveries 3) they are expanding click and collect facilities so those self isolating can pick things up if they have their own transport (presumably the equivalent of having it left on your doorstep) 4) limiting all grocery purchases to max 3 of the same item, and 2 only of the popular/short supply stuff
Sounds very sensible. Sainsbury’s have gone way up in my estimation (not that I ever had a problem with them, just now feel warm and fuzzy about them)
