For anyone in Derby, there is a Facebook group that has been set up to help people in need. I vaguely remember a poster in either Derby or Derbyshire who said they might struggle.

Although it’s Derby, for those in Derbyshire, someone might be able to help or even point in the direction of a local group of volunteers.

Thanks to President Macron's speech last night our flight back to France has been cancelled. I'm happy to stay in Norfolk but I have 2 old horses in France and the house sitter can't stay much longer. Lots of phone calls to make.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yeah, my mother is handling it well but she’s not happy about it.  I think it’s taking some time to sink in, best not to press the matter too much.
  • Yes thankyou for that.my worry is if they come down with something I will not be able to care for them.and the government has said the nhs will not be able to cope.in italy they are having to make life or death choices.some people will die a horrible painful death because there arent enough beds let alone ventilators.if a doctor has to choose that older person will have an awful death.and no one to comfort them.my husband is currently at work and could work from home.but his managers have not told him too.he has a heart condition which is not treated with any meds here.only in america.long story...I am worried sick and do not need to be worrying about my parents as well.

I wonder how many landlords are considering rent reductions for a few months? I know a lot of people with mortgage free 'investment' properties who could easily drop the rent by a considerable amount to help people out.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • I think the banks said they would ge giving 3 month mortgage holidays?hope so.i think to keep away from any news apart from once a day,say the governments daily briefings.?I used to put on tv first thing but it terrifies me.so I put talking pictures on!old mother riley at 6am.what on earth?!mum said they used to find it very funny 😳

Different times @the tidy gardener !
Some people find Mr Bean hilarious,  not for me I'm afraid ! Talking pictures have gems on their schedules,  you may find a fair few to help take your mind off things.
I understand your fears, l have parents in their 80s and parents in law in their 90s. I am just trying to take each day as it comes.
