Yes as @pansyface has said pfizer and moderna use the same technology (mRna in fat globules), the only difference is the dose, Moderna is higher, so when giving Moderna as a booster they are using a smaller volume, to make it the same as pfizer.
It would be almost impossible to prove that a particular combination was better than any other combination.

I think if we have had 3 jabs we should be grateful. I am constantly surprised when I hear people with no knowledge, saying oh, I wish I had had this, or, that vaccine. I was asked the other day and couldn't remember which booster I was given, had to check.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Reading some of the posts, I am feeling somewhat confused re the boosters being offered. My first 2 vaccines were AZ - stated quite categorically on the card I was given. The booster card states that Pfizer/Moderna was given. Is there actually a Pfizer vaccine as well as a Moderna vaccine or are they one and the same ? If there is a difference, what suggests the use of one over the other - age / ongoing health problems or what ? Grateful for any vaccine but just wondering.
I was told there was a shortage of Pfizer (when I was given Moderna) but that might have been that day / that pharmacy or just something they decided to say to people to placate them (not that I needed placating!).
I think that with all the news stories saying this vaccine is recommended for this group, or three doses of that vaccine have proven to be particularly effective etc, it's impossible for people to ignore - even if it doesn't affect their willingness to take what they're offered. It's also sensible, I would think, to be aware of what you've had (including having batch number recorded) in case you need to know for some reason in future.

Pfizer &. Moderna are different manufacturers but they use the same technology so for all practical purposes they are the same. I guess it's just what is available at the time.
Your COVID pass does have all the details if you need them, including batch nos. Though interestingly the place where the vaccine was administered doesn't appear to be recorded.

My card for the first two doses was stamped each time with Astra Zeneca and the batch number. My card for the booster just has a code (6-12 and an illegible squiggle) and "booster" handwritten on it, but my record on the NHS app says Pfizer/BioNTech and gives a batch number. I don't suppose it much matters unless a person develops a serious reaction, in which case it might be important to be able to find out exactly what they had (including the batch). I had no preference for any particular vaccine, just glad to get whichever was available. My engineer's brain says two different vaccine technologies (not even sure if that's the right word) might give better protection, but it could be completely wrong.

The reason I wanted AZ is their ethic of selling it at cost during the pandemic and then profits later for boosters and repeat jabs for future years, plus the fact that it's easier to deliver in far flung places without huge deep freeze facilities. Didn't want to help Pfizer with their profiteering.

I didn't get a card with the 3rd jab.
