    Such a difficult situation @Janie B.
Does she take any other pain relieving medicine?
This is not facetious, does she enjoy alcohol, it can be a wonderful analgesic?
Can you speak to her GP?

@Janie B  ((hugs)) does your local hospice have an outreach service?

Thanks, @punkdoc , I will talk to her GP. That's a great idea. No, she hasn't drunk alcohol for years... she takes codeine (cocodamol, I think) when she needs an extra boost, when I take her out somewhere, but it does constipate her... Her main problem is crippling arthritis. She took dichlofenac for so many years as it was the only thing she found that helped, until it gave her stomach problems, so she can't take that now. I am lucky in that she is very sanguine about her situation...

It might be worth talking to the GP about whether if she took Esomeprazole, she would then be able to restart diclofenac. It is a possibility, but obviously something for GP to decide.

We are in full lockdown mode here, only allowed to leave the house for food, medicines and tobacco. Oh and hairdressers are allowed to stay open because that of course is an essential service 🙄

Supermarkets are handing out gloves at the door and telling people to keep 2m apart. Only three people at a time allowed in the chemist, a barrier to protect staff from the great unwashed. However, people queuing outside the chemist are standing around chatting in close groups, which somewhat defeats that measure!

Thanks, but tbh they have discussed taking stomach protection, but agreed that as her gastric problems were so severe she'd be better off forgoing the Dic Sod. She was a nurse, and knew she was taking too many of them, but just found that they were the only things that hit the spot. Ho hum...

On the age point & self isolation an ex CMO on R4 reminded everyone that it is how healthy you are in general that is important. He recons they only chose 70 as so many people have health issues by that age but a 50 year old with health issues will be more vulnerable than a 75 year old who is fit. Also self isolation need not mean you can't go outside the house if you are fit just don't mix with others.

My dad is 75 and still works full time despite a major cancer operation last year. If that didn't convince him to retire then this probably isn't going to slow him down either.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
