  • @JennyJ , @floralies, @AuntyRach -- thank you for your thoughts and much of that logic is exactly why we have decided to postpone .

also JennyJ missed the post about your uncle , sorry for your loss.
Kindness is always the right choice.
  • My son has just phoned ... we had thought he might come here for a meal on Christmas Day (we have a very large living area so he would be eating at a separate table about 5m away from our table and yes, with windows open front and back) ... given the way figures are rising he’s thinking twice about it now ...we’ve decided to make a firm decision next week but the likelihood is that he will remain with Wonky and her husband and his son.
We’ll have a great family get together when we’ve had the jab 👍

  • It's great to have that to look forward to, @Dovefromabove.

We're planning to meet our Irish family out in the countryside, to exchange presents.  We'll plan something special for "after the jab", whenever that may be in Ireland...

  • @AuntyRach I agree with all you have said.  We have done the same.  @JennyJ sorry for your loss.

I remember the texts I had from my son before he was ventilated Dove, they were heartbreaking and he was very scared.

Just heard that prior to catching COVID-19 that chap regularly went on 5km runs so yes, fit with no underlying health problems. Now he’s had amputations, has lost the right in one eye and is awaiting a kidney transplant or looking to a life on dialysis. No, obviously it doesn’t affect healthy middle aged people  🙄

@floralies 🤗 your family has been through hell on earth. You’ve all been so brave.

  • This is what they are finding, sometimes very fit people fare worse  as their bodies mount such a strong reaction this does more damage than the original infection.  It was the same in the flu pandemic, more young fit soldiers died of flu than in the trenches.
