I done it in April, like you say it's too cold now, I just put up with them until then.

Horrible things and impossible to kill, they came out between the slabs when it rained but not if temperature was really low
  • Thank you. Surprised to see them this time of the year. Do you think they definitely are leatherjackets.

  • Yes they look just like mine did, apparently in really wet weather the ground gets saturated and washes them out
  • You'd think that they would drown, or at least fizzle out. I've noticed quite a few on the gravel. Not sure how they are getting their nutrients from there.  :s

Tried everything on patio, even oven cleaner and neat bleach wouldn't kill them.

They disappear as it gets light, go outside and look at lawn etc at night when wet and you'll see loads
  • Please tell me that was last year? Ours isn't that bad... And hope it doesn't get to that stage. They seem to be crawling up our little step. Complete nightmare 😱
  • We saw some lurkers during the day, but they have definitely multipled when it gets darker. Strange as it's so much colder. Hoping the dogs don't bring any into the house 🤞
  • Yes last February that photo. All gone now.
You may of seen a lot of daddy long legs on your lawn, laying the eggs around August/September
