As of tomorrow we can go out for 3 hours" exercise, not just one, and up to 20kms so we'll take the dogs to the nearest beach on Monday.  No point going at the weekend cos they'll be busy and I want the space, light and sounds of the long sandy beaches and the ocean waves.

They've already announced easing of travel restrictions between departments (counties) from the 15th of December but with a curfew from 9am to 7am except on Xmas and Ny Eve which is when people celebrate here.

However @Pansyface, they've also said if infection rates remain high they'll restore lockdown till 20th of January.

The restrictions are frustrating although probably necessary.  What many in the UK aren't happy about is (a) the constant chopping and changing and (b) the apparent inconsistency in the way the various tiers are applied. For example, one area of Kent has a high incidence and the whole county has been placed in tier 3 (the highest restrictions), large areas of London also have a high incidence but they are in tier 2. A politician they were talking to today actually talk sense for a change.  He said the calculations for each area should be published so people could see and understand the basis for decisions.  There are many factors involved but it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to present them in an understandable format.

@KT53 I don't think it's difficult to understand and follow the hand washing, mask wearing and space maintaining directives.   Nor is it difficult to understand that when all the twazzocks and thickos and stupid people don't follow those directives infection rates go up and lockdown/confinement/circuit breakers need to be applied.   I think the tier system is fraught with  difficulties but far easier to apply restrictions across a nation or a region or a county than between boroughs.

Do none of these eejits have grannies, older parents and aunties and uncles or rellies and friends with chronic health problems?

I agree the hand washing etc is , or should be, easy to follow.  It's the inconsistency in other areas which winds people up.  For example, the government claims that the only practical way to demark areas is by region or county but then have Slough as an island in tier 2 when all surrounding areas are in tier 3.  I actually agree that demarking by region or county is the simplest way, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot by having exceptions.  Presumably due to demands from a local MP who has a lot of clout for one reason or another.

If you have different tiers within a region, it would only work with strict border control. If not, you'd have people in tier 3 doing a Cummings for a night out in tier 2.
