Can anyone identify this bush (red berries) ?

Hi, I've recently moved house (sept) and a large garden with it! :smiley:

Just outside the back door there's 2 bushes and both of them we're extremely overgrown and covered in red berries. I had to prune these back so we could get out the back door but noticed they attract so many birds I'd hate to loose them completely. So I was just wondering if anyone could identify them and if they can be moved to a more suitable place, and when would be the best time to do this.

    If you’re having problems posting photos, click on the ‘landscape’ icon and follow instructions ... if the picture doesn’t appear try reducing its size ... that usually works. 😊

    I would say that it was one of the deciduous Cotoneasters. but that is a wild guess.

    I think Palustris is right, poorly pruned as well

    Thanks. We've been told the garden has been neglected for over 5 years. We had to chop it back to get to the back door. 

    Can you offer any advice on pruning it and if it can be moved?

    a very badly pruned cotoneaster franchetii is my guess.

    Theres another one behind it 2ft higher

    you could cut it back hard , say 12 - 18" and let it start again, it'll bounce back, or remove it altogether and put something else in its place.

    Is now the right time to cut back so much? 

    Would it survive being moved? I'd hate to loose it
