Didn’t know that box actually can have flowers. Or is it not a box plant?
They are our mini hedge that came with the house hence I’m not sure if they are indeed box. They really struggled last two seasons but seem much better now 😊
My Sarcococca has its flowers under the leaves - and flowers in Jan/Feb (though some flower later, I believe). It looks from photos on the Web as if Box does have flowers like that, @Big Blue Sky. You'd know if it was Sarcococca though because it smells strongly of honey when the sun shines on it.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Thank you @AnniD and @Liriodendron Went outside specially to sniff the hedge 😂 Unfortunately none of them smelled like honey, in fact they don’t smell like anything at all.
I guess they are indeed box. And I was already thinking that them being sarcococcas would explain why they never got infected with box blight 🤔😂
Will give them a good feed once they finished flowering - hopefully they will stay happy and flower again next year.
Good evening, all! I’ve spent the day digging up lots and lots of rubble from a very narrow border that was gravel before. I’ve enriched it with some compost and I’m hoping to plant some shade loving plants there. I’m completely exhausted. What do I do with all the rubble? 5 bags reused from 120l compost bags. I can’t even lift them. 😖
@pitter-patter You've been working too hard. Have a break before you break your back. I know by experience; now I'm extra careful to stop gardening tasks before it's too late.
You already posted the pic of those bleeding hearts, but on your last pic they're seen from a different point of view. I like a lot the combination with what I think is the foliage of a Heuchera x ‘Cherry Cola’. Right?
