@Papi Jo I've just found the pic of it that you posted in the "Rose/clematis combo thread", that's a beaut! I absolutely love mine: I only bought it last autumn but despite growing to less than a metre it has flowered right through since May 8th!
You've really pruned it to 50cm? I was going to just give mine a bit of a haircut, but now I think I'm going to be brave and scalp it!
@mikeymustard Here's a follow-up to my post of July 2nd. After the severe pruning down to 50 cm my C. 'Samaritan Jo' has now started its usual new growth. I am expecting a new flush of flowers in September.
If you are struggling to grow echinacea @AnniD its probably down to soil to wet / heavy and planting plants that are to young and end up being slug fodder.
From time to time, a little retrospect is necessary to appreciate the progress in one's garden. On these 2 photos of my North mixed border taken only 4 years apart we can see that the shrubs and climbers have done a good job of covering the fence and the trellises (on the right).
Kniphofia Tawny King before the weather flattened it .
Clematis Viticella Supernova my favourite clematis by far.
Helenium Waltraut flowering well and will continue to do so if deadheaded, nepeta walkers Low another excellent long flowering plant. Dahlia Thomas Edison
Sanguisorba Lilac squirrell and geranium Orkney cherry
Wow! What a lovey garden @Perki ! Just out of interest, how many of the helenium plants are in there? Just interested to know how many actual plants produce that volume of flowers...
