Not a problem at all @London_to_Latimer I just juse an ordinary electric lawnmower. I use edging shears to neaten it up, no nail scissor involved @Loxley I've never liked straight edges in gardens. I like the borders to be semi-controlled chaos but I love a nice lawn.
Hard to remember this bed was bare soil in March. The plants I wanted didn't come, could only put in seeds I had to hand, and transplanted a couple of things. The only decided plants were the climbing white rose.

Those perfect circles of lawn are a great foil to the planting, they're doing a similar job to a piece of topiary. I love it (although I don't think I would have the patience for it).

Hi Davewalsh29 yes it’s a canna but I can’t remember which one, I love cannas for their decretive leaves. I’ve got some dark leaved ones as well which look like the ornamental banana.
