Social care, what exactly is that?
when I was nursing both my parents , one with cancer one with a heart complaint I asked for someone to help me wash them and help with changing beds, it’s quite frightening for old and ill people to be turned over and back with no help, one day the nurse in charge at our surgery came out to help me it was her day off she did this out of the kindness if her heart.  All I asked was half hour a day and only one person.

£50.00 a week CT  ok it helps schools police etc I accept that, but I’m not paying anymore to have rubbish removed.
Seems not many other people around here do either so the lorry drives around empty.

We must remember to add their pension funds in that.

We have been paying for collecting garden waste for some time now , £30 pa , it works well , it’s worth it not to have to drive to the tip
We have 4 compost bins at allotment which always get filled .  Tree branches etc we burn on the fire 🔥 and also shred stuff which we use at allotment
On the stream banks we leave stuff for insects 🦟 etc
It’s surprising how much waste is generated

It could,  but I don’t think the service I got could have been worse,

The tories were in charge then, so I'm not sure whey you think they're going to be better now.

Times seemed to have changed, your OH, for instance, having someone in to help him, we had sod all when my mum came home, I didn’t have a clue about the equipment or how to use it.
Someone on here wrote to me in PM to give advice because she’d been in a similar position.( And I will be forever grateful to her),  so I think things are better.
Theres lots of people praising the NHS for the good service and after care they got.

It's not the "small cost" that's the issue... It's the charge for yet another thing that should be included in the high council tax we pay. These small bits here and there compound to make life's expenses accelerate beyond what we earn.

I have 5 green bins, collected every 2 weeks within my £3200/year council tax. Few around me would be happy with charges for this

Wouldn't a large compost heap be cheaper? :-)

We've all got really large gardens around here! More than a big compost heap would deal with. House across the road has 7, next door 4 etc
