    @Meomye ... no, there's no need to do that... you've done the work..  and if you're happy with it, then that's ok..

    Interesting about the species roses, @Marlorena, I have a Moyesii Geranium on order, would that be better with the graft above ground as well?

    @Nollie ... no, you're ok with that one... I grew it on the south coast and didn't have any problems in that way but I didn't keep it that long... I've heard nothing adverse about it..  apart from its size... proved too big for my garden... but you have more room I think..

    Thanks @Marlorena, I only ordered it because OH wanted a rose with hips, but the single flowers are lovely.

    It may not work, but I think I’m going to put it on this upper terrace... there is a good planting hole behind the shrubs and hopefully I can encourage it to scramble up those trees behind:

    ....a nice elevated position... perfect I think for seeing the hips better..  you have quite a garden..
