My apologies @Ben Cotto, I didn't thank you for that interesting link on nurses pay.

    Valid points there @KT53

Does the smell of Jayes Fluid ever fade? You may remember that I broke the nozzle on my pump action hand sprayer a few weeks ago and couldn't fix or replace it. Today though I found an old cheapo sprayer in the garage that I used to use to clean the rabbit hutch. It was broken but the nozzle fits the other one perfectly. The only problem is it stinks of Jayes Fluid and no amount of scrubbing seems to be shifting it. I think I only used the fluid once about 5 or 6 years ago and swore never to use it again afterwards due to the smell. I don't think it will harm the plants but if the smell hasn't faded in 5 years then I'm probably stuck with it. :# I wonder if a soak in bicarb will do anything?

Worth a try or else try lemon juice.  Seems to work on all sorts of things.

  • We always used lemon scented cleaner to get rid of the billy goat smell when our females had visited the stud male. If if works for billy goat it’ll probably work for Jeyes. 🤞

I'm told by my US relatives that, when a pet is foolish enough to tangle with a skunk, the only way to get rid of the smell is to bathe the pet in tomato ketchup and rinse it off.

I thought it was tomato juice rather than ketchup? Waste of a bloody Mary though frankly. I remember a friend trying it after her dog rolled in fox poo. It didn't improve the smell but at least it was different.

I've got window guys coming tomorrow to fit child proof hinges to all the windows and service the seals and stuff. It means moving all my plants and over wintering succulents out of the way though which is no small task :# I need to offload a few next year I think. At least I've had a chance to clean all the sills and check the plants over for dead leaves and bugs anyway.

I get called Wild, WE, Wedges and worse. All work fine and are all a lot more polite than what my analogue friends call me :)
