Well that turned into a busy evening. My wife roasted a chicken this morning so I picked the meat off it and boiled the carcass up to make stock while she prepped veg for soup, spag bol and chilli ready to fire up the slow cookers in the morning. Plenty of garden herbs went into it all too. I'm wondering whether to stew up some apples now or quit while I'm ahead and try and fit some sleep in.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Nearly every time I've been to A & E since or taken somebody else in it's always been a four hour ish wait. I'm not at all surprised the waiting times have gone up in the last couple of days, the flu cases have risen by about 25% I believe.
There are approx 40,000 vacancies for nurses right now, why haven't they been recruited?
I do wonder how many potential nurses are put off by the need to have a degree ? There are people with the practical skills and attitude who may well be put off by the emphasis on degree qualifications. https://www.rcn.org.uk/professional-development/become-a-nurse
The roll of a nurse has changed immeasurably from the perceived bedside manner and pill dispensing roll in ( Many years ) gone by to a much more hands on roll. I heard nurses say since Junior Doctors hours have been cut, and rightly so, a lot of that workload has been transferred to nurses.
Indeed, their role has changed over the years. I would be interested to hear the take on this from someone "at the coal face", as it were, would they think there was a way of introducing nursing staff at the pill dispensing, pillow plumping level (that is not meant to be disparaging in any way). I know there are many volunteers who help, l have a couple of friends, but there is only so much they are allowed to do. I don't know if there are any members of the forum who are members of the nursing profession?
