Don't worry @steephill- no chance of me nibbling any of 'em. I think everything else around has already had a go, judging by the way they look  :D
They're under the conifer and the pine, and I don't usually see them. It's only because I've been working in that area, making it into a better space.
Thanks for that ID anyway  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Would it be cheating to post this picture that was taken in Scotland a few months back? Found in a Woody area in Dumfries and Galloway .
My 7 year old loves this topic and we have an ID app but other than that I'm afraid I'm not that good with fungi.

Lovely pic. Did you take a bite out of that one before you took the pic @TinyGardenGIrl;)

Could be Ruby Bolete, fairly rare in the UK.

Haha it's a lovely delicious looking colour too .
I have been searching for a name for it @steephill and your suggestion does seem like the closest match.

It's still warm and damp here so woods are packed with mushrooms. I found these last Sunday.

There’s been some very pretty mushrooms round here this year

    ....or maybe they’re toadstools 🍄
  • Ooh, a proper fairy toadstool!  Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria) :)

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

The fairies were out doing their shopping the day I visited 😉
  • Wow! We have been looking for fly agaric in particular . Lovely pic.
