Classic fm? quite soothing - my "go to" station - and it's even better at Christmas (not the tat songs played endlessly in supermarkets) - lovely festive music with real choirs etc. If that's your sort of thing!
I never listen to Classic fm in December. "Festive music" is NOT classical music. They once played Mary's boy child sung by Kiri Te Kenawa, god help us!!

Apart from Ken Bruce (particularly for Popmaster), l rarely listen to the radio these days. My main listening was in the evening around tea time, but ever since the powers that be got rid of Simon Mayo's Drivetime, it's usually silence or a bit of BBC Local radio .
I may be in a minority but I'm thrilled that Simon Mayo ( nothing against him, honest ) has gone ( BBC didn't get rid of him, he quit ) as we now have Sara Cox and she makes me laugh out loud mulitple times in every show. Can't stand Steve Wright but 5pm is " Sara Cox o'clock " in our house.
I had the same frustration a few years ago. I used to listen to Classic FM but there were more and more annoying ads. I own about 1500 CD's which I have copied to my hard disk. I now stream random tracks from my PC to my radio all day long - so it's all (or mostly) music I know I like, and not a spoken word to disturb my listening. In late November I add about 100 Christmas tracks to give a festive feel. Works a treat

I'm the same. I have 33 days of music on my iPod, ( old school ) and have it on random when the radio doesn't suit
Don't you have an 'Aye pod' @Hostafan1? I'm with @AnniD - the absence of Simon was like a death here. I can't cope with Sarah Cox except in small quantities - sorry Hosta, but I do agree with you on the type of C*****mas type of music often played. Fairly dreadful. I think it's easy to forget that each programme has a 'feel' to it. I'm very fond of Steve Wright, and the show is largely an antidote to a long working day, hence the structure of it. Could be worse - it could be Jo Whiley. Can't bear local radio, which one of my daughter's likes. The dreadful adverts on the one here are excrutiating, and wonderfully lampooned by the Still Game boys on Chewin' the Fat. 'Come to Larry's Laminate Land'. Genius. I use CDs when the radio isn't to my liking though, but I also rather enjoy a bit of inane prattling
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
When I first used chatrooms about a million years ago, I became very wary of anyone with stuff like: sexy , crazy , wild, mad , lad, boy etc etc in their screen names, so " DJ silly boy" for someone who's in his mid 60s is just wrong. I liked Simon's show, but Sara's is hilarious.
