@Fairygirl To be honest if you hadn't recommended them I wouldn't have ordered from them as their site is quite basic and it doesn't really say anything about how long they have around etc

I was going to order it from J Parkers but the reviews for them were dreadful!

@WillDB Yea I intend to keep it to around 4-5ft as I don't want it to take over so I'm hoping that cutting it back hard will keep it in check.

@Fairygirl Oh they look fantastic! I hope the one I ordered arrives like that. They are quite a size too!!

You won't get a plant of that quality and size from Parkers.  I'm surprised you though their site wasn't good. As plant nurseries go, I think it's brilliant - huge variety, good detail etc.
Those were a tenner each, were a very good size, and in excellent health. I was slightly worried about them settling in, because even though they're very tough shrubs,  our conditions are somewhat different from what they would have been growing in.
I think I said I planted them same day, but I remember we had several very windy wet days after they arrived, and single figure temps overnight,  so I left them for a couple of days tucked in beside the back door. They're absolutely fine though. I had bulbs and other things to go in with them, so I wanted to do it all in one go.  :)

@Fairygirl Sorry what I meant was their website is quite basic looking and I couldn't find where it told you about their ethos and how long their business had been established etc.
This would normally put me off ordering from a business but I do agree that the plant selection and information about each one is excellent :)

Did you cut them down a bit to prevent them being rocked about by the wind when you first planted them? I'm planning on getting them in the ground in a couple of weeks hopefully.

No - I left them as is, but I also left in a couple of canes, and a few little branches from shrubs were tucked in under the new stems which had recently flowered.
The raised bed/box in that pic is the one which is slightly more exposed, and I've had to push it in and firm it a bit every few days [it's quite windy here!] and it's now absolutely fine. They've been well waterd in from the sky in the last month too  :D

I'd removed two apple trees from those boxes, so I was careful to prep the planting holes well too. That always makes a difference. There's already some new growth forming at the bases of them too.
I understand you having difficulty with the origins etc of the site, and I daresay I should have looked more closely at all of that too, but I weighed up the risks, and felt it was worth it. When they arrived, I could see how well they'd been packed, how good the shrubs were, and felt vindicated  ;)

@Fairygirl Do you remember how long the delivery time was from when you placed the order at all?

I'll have a look @CraighB. I know I contacted them because they hadn't arrived  after a couple of weeks or so, and I was keen to get them in. They emailed me very quickly and said they were a bit backlogged, and then kept me updated. They came soon after that.  :)
I've just checked, and I ordered them on 23rd August, emailed them on 7th September, and they replied next day to say they were already being packed and I'd get an email when they were out for delivery. That happened on the 12th and I got them following day.  :)

Ah that's great thanks for that @Fairygirl

I received the initial order email but haven't heard anything since so I just wondered how long their delivery times were :)

They did say to me in the initial reply that it was longer than their usual delivery. I was slightly worried, but I can't fault their responses, and the subsequent delivery  :)
