We used to get siskins in the garden round the corner, but they were absent in this garden until earlier this year, when we seemed to have a little pair  :)

Loads of goldies here too - which has been a delight. The youngsters have been regular visitors too

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Greater spotted woodpeckers, bullfinches, Trotty wagtails pied and grey, a robin that follows me around the garden, I know he isn't unusual but it is still a joy to have him or her, carrion crows, the usual ones are still a pleasure to see,

We had one once over 10 years ago only stayed for a short while. Too say I was excited is an understatement. We occasionally get blackcaps in the garden and unidentified warblers (all look the same) ☺ I once had a woodpecker visit which was WOW

Have had a green woodpecker once in my garden.
Last night while sitting in the conservatory watching for hedgehogs I heard a bird call not heard before, an owl I'm sure, which I'm not so sure, three long calls( not a screech like a barn owl or the traditional to wit to woo) and when I searched for info it was a little confusing as it sounded like a little owl on the recording I listen to, not what I expected.

Never seen a wild owl before. I found a dead tawny owl dead beside a road in Tamworth. I called it in as I do with any rung birds and it was a young bird rung in South Wales I think. Long way for a youngster to travel looking for a territory/mate

That might have been it, if they repeat it three times.

Tawny Owls - I think the males do the Woo bit and the females do the screech - if that's any help :)

Had sparrowhawk through for the last two days, never caught anything, but will be back I am sure.

I was at my allotment and saw a Sparrow Hawk just launch from a high tree and glide 200 yards down to the bottom of the site completely silently.

Another time one got a sparrow at the bottom of my garden and devoured it all in 20 minutes.

I tried to look away but couldn't. After every bite it looked up at me with its bright eyes before carrying on.
