Thanks purplerallim, we are due some warm weather here till Sunday so I'll leave them till then and then pick them. We've got about 20 so might need to take the bit's of and freeze them.
Just spotted your reply Dovefromabove and have looked at the video thanks for the link. I now see what I need to look for. From the looks of the one Monty pulled off they look the same as a few of our's so I'll cook a couple of them tomorrow. Thanks again video was a great help.
Thanks Dovefromabove, I'm sure we will. The one's in the shop the outer leave of the corn look dry I think that's why I was confused. One question as I could tell from Monty's video, when you press the cob should it be milky or clear why it's ready to be cooked?
We have had runner bean roots left in the soil reshoot the following year, so we lift and compost them, along with the vines, we keep seeds to re-sow next year, they were many years ago the "Stenner" strain but no doubt have been diluted in time, still give a lovely crop of long beans.
cornelly, our beans are very disappointing, all the beans are at the top where I can't reach. There were no flower for about 3/4 of the way up and then the top 1/4 there has been a few but not many I have been watering well be hardly anything.
That's sad, NannaBoo, ours grew up to about a foot or so then the first flowers, only problem we had was they became stringy quickly this year, first time for everything I suppose, it means we have more seed than usual, there are now flowers at the top of the plants so we are looking forward to a second picking.
My beans have been good this year, but the sweet corn are suffering. First the mice had a tray full, then we had high winds, they don't seem to have pollinated well. I think they need some sun (so do I).
