Identification

Any ideas what this is? Thought the leaves looked a bit like a delphinium, has grown to 2 metres in height and has not flowered. Perennial. Has multiple stems. Nice structural plant but it’s just growing and growing! Was given to me by chap who landscaped my garden. Thanks in advance. Claire

    I have cut back at top and sides as was taking over,  needs moving to a more suitable place!

    Thanks, can see where you’re both coming from, just weird it hasn’t produced any flowers at all. Planted May last year so it’s the 2nd year & it’s definitely thriving 😁

    Elders be they the wild or cultivated have a distinctive smell if you cut the branches.

    It looks like it may even be the golden leafed version. That tends to be variable depending on how much sun it gets.
