Long visit from a friend who is having her bathroom renewed and there would be no loo for a few hours!

What if the builders don't have big bladders?
Doesn't bear thinking about too much does it?😁

Afties all. We were very lucky today in that we managed to dodge the showers. The marina brunch was delicious and set us up for the trip around Rufford Old Hall. There were lots of small people there with clip boards and a quiz to answer. I thought that it was a great idea, engaging the youngsters in history and keeping them going through the Hall. We had an interesting talk in the great hall which gave a 15 minute potted history of the Hall. It seems that the male members of the Hesketh family and their descendants all seemed to marry well and bring in loads of money. Rumour has it that Henry V111 and William Shakespeare had visited the place over time. This immense screen in the Old Hall was used by actors as a changing screen when they put on performances. On one side there is a carved angel with 6 fingers - said to be based on Anne Boleyn.

Lants - it's another reason why I'd quite like a 'gardener's loo' at the bottom of the garden. Easy for outdoor workmen to use and saves me struggling to get wellies off while standing crossed legged. Always thinking "I'll go in a minute" because it's a bit of a faff getting rid of muddy boots first - one day I'll embarrass myself🤭

LB - that screen is beautiful isn't it? Am I correct in thinking it's either the only one known to be in existence or one of only a very few?

Lants - very much so. The precious things were labelled as such and polite notices asked us not to touch. The huge screen is carved out of bog oak and it was safe to touch that. T'Bird, it is thought to be the only one of its kind. Did you get your paperwork finished?
Ruby, I have that clemmie in my garden but this year - due to clumsy brother - it is not so fine as last. There is always next year.
