Hazel- Happy anniversary! Sorry I don't know how I missed it yesterday.
T'Bird, I know exactly how you feel about rain.I had two rain only two days this summer. It was huge help but I need more. I was very worried for my plants, veggies and flowers. Without two rainy day almost all my plants would be dead.
Wow Joyce, thats a marathon. Mind you thats what my youngest sis and I are like when we get on the phone. I've been taking down my climbing hydrangea at the front as it had started to creep under my soffits and the lead flashing and I didn't want a massive struggle at a later date that might have meant damaging those items.
I've just put a rhubarb crumble in the oven and I'm about to have a brew. Hung in muck as M-U says

That's a good job done LB. Grassman cut mine back to the bare wood last year as it was so heavy I thought it might come away from the wall which is part of the electricity substation. I need to get down on the kneeler this afternoon and cut back some hardy geraniums which are a mess after all the rain.
Afties everyone. Lants, I didn't need the ladders today as once I had cut through the big stems the hydrangea peeled off like that easy peel wallpaper used to - in one fell tug. I then had to put the big branches on the drive to cut them into more manageable bin sized pieces. I might have to get the ladders out for the last bits up near the bedroom window. Cleaned the bird bath and filled the bird feeders. The birds have had a two month break so I thought it worth starting to feed them again.

I havent seen the neighbourhood cats all day today. I wonder where they are, maybe they are staying in, I don't know. Pansy cats are such hunters aren't they sadly.. It's good Mr M was there to look after the baby magpie. A cooler day today which is refreshing after some of the temperatures over the summer. The sun came out momentarily. Joyce it's good you enjoyed catching up for a while. It will have done you good. I haven't heard anything else regarding the floods hope all are okay and in time are able to return to their homes; although it does seem a very temporary fix and would surely need concrete to secure the damn. They have their experts working on this. The boy on the news regarding the accident is reported as being stable. I hope he has a good recovery and they have arrested a teenager in this regard. The roses in the garden are flourishing and I need to feed my peony and have just found some feed. The neighbours have gone quiet after the noise playing some horrible chants but that has ceased and I can sign and relax andcappreciatecthexquiet and listen to the sound of a cats purr.

The above is aimed at Runners who likes getting her leg over the wall.
Rebecca, enjoy your peace and quiet when you can.
