I'm afraid not a pomegranate. Plenty of them too in my grandfather's orchard, both the "sweet", which had ruby red seeds, and the "sour" ones with rather anaemic seeds that were far less sweet.

The purple fruit looks a bit like this but it's the... wrong colour! Intriguing!
My Greek grandfather had plenty in his orchard, so I've known them since childhood. I love their blossom, the flavour of the beautifully perfumed fruit itself and the tea you can make out of their sun-dried leaves!
Hi Phaidra, I wonder if you have any recipes for quince. I don't have a quince tree but I can buy the fruit in autumn. I've had quince jelly and I liked it. I believe you can't eat the fruit raw. So, is there anything else you can do with quince? ... I might buy my own tree in order to make that aromatic tea!
I’ve already suggested that, no ridges in the fruit. I still think it is, the top 2 fruits haven’t got ridges in the OP, maybe they plump up a bit more and lose the ridges?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
The foliage in Emma's photo certainly does look like a chaemoneles but I've never seen purple fruits like that on one. Can't see anything online either.
Have just been out for a look at mine and the developing fruits are currently small and green, they turn yellow into autumn. I noticed slight 'ridges' on them but nothing as pronounced as the purple ones shown.

Apologies for the blurry photo.
I hope this mystery is solved.
