Chocolate cosmo dying

Hello!
My chocolate cosmo is dying and I'm not sure why. It's in well draining soil that I only water when dry. Maybe it's because it's been so cloudy here lately? I'm not sure what to do.

    I've never grown Comos indoors so perhaps it just wants to be outside?

    Yes - it needs overwintering inside in the UK, but it should be outside. It's probably fried.
    Are you in the UK or elsewhere?
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I'm in Japan and it's the rainy season, though it's on the balcony with a roof overhead so it doesn't get all that rain.

    Chocolate cosmos is perennial but a bit tender. 

    It does look a bit cooked 😢 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Hm I will try moving it into the shade, then. I hope I can still save it

    The plant is getting swamped by other plants in the pot and the base has very little space for it to grow and expand. They are delicate plants and best grown on their own. They should be able to deal with a sunny area, provided the soil is moist but also free draining. The way it is leaning, I think they are reaching for the light.

    Do you think if I replanted it now, it would survive?
