So pleased with my plug plant wild flower area.

  • So would I @AuntyRach, however little steps can reap rewards and I now have a field sown with native flower and grass seed, and this big patch partially sown with seed and this patch with the plug plants. I think (although he doesn't say anything that my OH is liking the effect too.
    The plug plants were grown (by me) from seed I collected in the late summer - some from our garden and other seed collected on walks on the common land, in the lanes or bought in packets (ox-eye daisies.  I dried the collected seed, sowed it in Autumn in 3" pots and then nurtured them. You could sow the seed in Spring too.  However because the winter was so mild I planted the plugs into their final home in the soil over the winter (taking a bit of a risk but by then the plugs were filling the pots with roots coming out of the bottom). I groups 3 of the same plants within 12" of each other. I feel quite chuffed with the results, thank you for your comments.

    It is stunning. We should all grow more meadows!
