The packet says plant out in the autumn. Why can't I do it now?

Plants
I have some perennial candytuft. (snowflake) seedlings. They look pretty sturdy although only a couple of inches high.
Do I have to wait until autumn to plant out?.
In London. Keen but lazy.

I'm just fed up with looking at them! A bit like kids that, much as you love them, you can't wait for them to move out.

If you're prepared to guard them from becoming overgrown and keep them watered, they'll be fine
