You've worked really hard @FlyDragon and you should be really proud of yourself. I love the brick raised beds! You could add a small arch to that too and have a climber going over it to really invite you into the rest of the garden. It's looking great now. x
Thank you! I can't take credit for the brick beds they were here when I moved in, I hated them at first but I've grown to love them, and they're a great place to mix it up every year and try different bulbs and bedding.
I did think about an arch at the front but its a pretty narrow gap! I think it might cause some practical issues being able to get stuff through!
Got an email this morning that my arbour is out of stock and won't be coming. That's a bit disappointing.
Well done @FlyDragon don't you think it's much more satisfying knowing that it's all your own work? It's looking great.
Thanks, well its nearly all my own work, my dad came round on Saturday to help move the concrete slabs. I was going to just smash them up with my sledgehammer so I could move them myself but my brother wants them so I needed some muscle!
There was an ants nest under one of them, and I was a bit upset that we'd disturbed them, but then the fabulously organised little creatures picked up all their eggs and carried them away through their tunnels, presumably they've gone deeper. I'll dig slowly and carefully in that area so they've got chance to move house again!
Done a bit of work the last couple of weekends and feel like I've achieved a lot of what I want to this summer.
I would still love a massive landscaping project if I win the lottery but I'm quite happy with the way my 'making do with what I've got' has worked out!
Thanks both! A lot cheaper than a massive landscaping project and still a nice space to enjoy. Next year's job, fill in any border gaps and put stuff in those empty pots!
Its been nice to have something to get stuck into at the weekends after working on the Covid response at work all week.
