I agree, there is nothing like watching people throwing themselves down a steep hillside in pursuit of cheese. It's amazing how high the human body can bounce.....🤕
I don't often laugh out loud whilst reading stuff on t'interweb, but I did at that.  I've only lived in Gloucester for 60 years so haven't been to the Cheese Rolling.  Getting far too busy up there anyway from what I read.

You don't fancy shin kicking then?
Not really ... I’ve played hockey and been kicked in both knees by a horse ... neither were much fun 😭
What was a horse doing on the pitch when you were playing hockey.  Isn't hockey with a horse normally called polo? :D

This topic has most definitely become decurmudgeonised in the last few pages.  I might have to get some incontinence pants before reading any more.

It's been many years since l saw it (just the thought of climbing the side of that hill these days leaves me weak  !).
To be honest it's not an experience l wish to repeat, not because l'd probably expire on the way up, but watching those people made me feel quite sick. How no one ended up with a broken neck l will never know. I remember a couple of years ago BBC Points West did a story on it, and the reporter stood at the top.l don't normally suffer from vertigo but the hillside just disappeared from view, it was so steep. I felt really dizzy and that was just seeing it on TV !

If people want to do it that's up to them (although l think they are mad 🤪). l did get extremely curmudgeonly when this story appeared a few years ago

    Are ye pure scunnered Hosta?
I hurl myself down knee crunching slopes often enough for fun -  I'm not about to start chasing cheese at the same time.  :D

no no, perfectly clear what you both mean. Worst time of year to have a cold. Not as much comfort in a hot toddy when it's Pimms weather outside.

I'm feeling thoroughly Curmudgeonly about politics and all that stuff but I won't sully the thread with the specifics. I am going to go and dig another hole in the garden instead. I need a tree......
