Its great to see independents doing well AuntyRach 😀
Not much to photograph yet this year @Obelixx, but hopefully they will fill out soon and end up looking something like this (last year’s efforts) .....all things deer don’t like 🦌
A friend of mine in Belgium spent one spring moaning and muttering about bloody squirrels and deer riiping her pots of tulips and other bulbs to shreds - until she was up early one morning and found it was peacocks from the small-holding behind her.....
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Afternoon all. Lovely owl, LP. I would be so happy to see that!
Rather dozy today to say the least. I didn't wear my pyjamas to the party, though I took my scarf. Far far too hot to even get it out of my bag, so I just had a tartan hanky in the end. It was an excellent and extremely energetic ceilidh and a very late night so although I didn't touch a drop I feel very hungover today. Dragged myself out with Bow to visit an NGS open garden - well, 46 of them - which was on GW last year. We won some banana chutney on the tombola and were entertained by a cabaret including drag act. I do love London I'll try to post some pics on the garden visits thread tomorrow (got to go out this evening). Here's one:
'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
We had a lovely day out but OH was quieter than usual, says his leg still hurts. Tendons take some time though.
We had a lovely lunch sitting on the terrace of an old farmhouse run as a restaurant and a B & B by a couple of English ladies. We had 5 courses of delicious well presented food. It had been on a TV programme, A New Life in the Sun, 1st series a few years ago.
Then we set out a bit late for the 2 Open Gardens. Couldn't find the first one but found the second one, buried up a drive in the countryside. It was lovely, lots of roses. We met our friend from the village and another friend, which we hadn't expected as the garden is over an hour's drive away. They said the first garden wasn't very good, not really worth looking for. We drove through some beautiful countryside. I had my camera but I forgot to take any photos
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
