@Singing Gardener. Sorry I hadn’t read your post when answering Lizzie.

This forum doesn't need a like button to start an argument :)  I see little huffs creeping in here already. It's just a forum. If you like it stay, if you don't, leave. Simple really. I often clear off for while when things get childish
Precisely ... someone’s already gone off in a huff ‘cos they think I’m going to misjudge them when I’ve already bent over backwards and asked a favour from someone else in order to try to help them today ... hey ho ... that’s life eh? 😊

I waited and waited and nothing happened!

Don’t you get a little drop down box of choices after you’ve typed the @ and the first four letters of the name. @Busy-Lizzie ?

I often think they should be a like etc. I personally haven't ever come across people bickering about likes etc on any other forums I am a member of.  You don't have to use it some members never use it and that fine.

I don't post most of the time because I can't be bothered to tell every person I liked their photo or their comment, one click of the mouse on other forums / other job done  :)

Like buttons aren't all encompassing - what if you only "liked" ( presume Like = Agree ) part of the post ?  For pics, a quick "beautiful / interesting / want one " or WHY as appropriate would do the biz surely ?

Absolutely ...  choosing an appropriate word out of the huge number in the dictionary and typing it can be so good ... an appropriate word of your choice can express the nuances of your emotions far more than a tick box type response.

I think that is my instinctive distrust of like philippa, it could be agree or admire or look similar to or half a dozen other definitions.  English is such a rich language and whilst we don't have 22 words for snow (thank goodness!) we do have a huge variety of more descriptive words than like.

I find myself offended when someone says "That's nice" or "That's interesting" 'cos I take it as a polite criticism. That Twitter thing is bad enough without depriving a generation of a varied and rich vocabulary.

I probably should have posted this elsewhere  as I think I'm tetchy 'cos I have to paint and I want to be in the garden!  Sorry everyone.

    That's a bit catch22 then, isn't it! because you can't tag
